It was in 2004 that the first ODISSEIA wines were produced. But Jean-Hugues Gros had already been working in the Douro since 1999.<\/p>\n

He found wine potential in this region that allowed him to develop a diversity of terroir, elegant and versatile wines.<\/p>\n

After completing the oenology course and several internships in Burgundy in 1992, Jean-Hugues Gros had the unique opportunity to spend 16 months at Sandeman, in Porto. And that was how the discovery of Port wines, the enchanting Douro region and its wines began.<\/p>\n

After some more experiences in California and Champagne, the definitive return was in 1999 to work at Quinta do Convento de S\u00e3o Pedro das \u00c1guias, a small Port wine company located next to the T\u00e1vora river, near Tabua\u00e7o. Today, Jean-Hugues is a producer and also a winemaking consultant for several Quintas do Douro.<\/p>\n

The grapes come from 3 areas of the Douro, with altitudes between 450 and 650 m and granite sun.<\/p>\n

As castas selecionadas s\u00e3o na maioria\u00a0Viosinho<\/em>,\u00a0Rabigato<\/em>\u00a0It is\u00a0Larinho Codega<\/em>, de vinhas com menos de 20 anos.<\/p>\n

As uvas s\u00e3o prensadas e o mosto \u00e9 decantado durante 2 a 3 dias a 10\u00baC. Depois de passar a limpo, a fermenta\u00e7\u00e3o ocorre a temperatura de 14\u00baC durante 3 a 4 semanas. No fim da fermenta\u00e7\u00e3o, o vinho \u00e9 separado das borras mais grossas e vai envelhecer em cuba de inox at\u00e9 o engarrafamento. At\u00e9 final de Dezembro, as borras finas ser\u00e3o levantadas uma vez por semana (lipstick<\/em>).<\/p>\n
